Regina - OMG - did you not read the rule books????? The "M" word is not allowed to be discussed! I cringe whenever i see that word. :P
did your dr give you your FSH levels? That's what tells you if menopause is close by. I have always had light AF's - I can even use a tampon - i use panty liners. and I've had my lining checked twice and it's fine. ![]()

Okay, I found this, but it was taken on CD13 so it can't be right, right?

Hmmm Regina - I'm not that well versed on it, just know that's how they can tell how many eggies you got left. I know they did my FSH testing on the wrong day and my dr was able to calculate it out and said it was normal.
I know that it was either Kirsten or Rebecca that had the High FSH - I think it was Rebecca. In any event - august was forever ago...especially in our lovely aging bodies. You may want to have it redone. Speaking of lovely b/w. I just called my dr and if the receptionist did know to read. My levels are still in good shape on my thyroid. I should be getting the mailed copy soon cause i requested a copy. ![]()

Mere - congrats on the baby girl!!!
Regina - cd3 is the most accurate to measure fsh. I think the doctors like to see it below 10. Between 10 - 13 means diminished reserve. I don't think you have anything to worry about with 5.4. Even with diminished reserve doesn't mean you can't get preggo just means it may be a little more difficult because there are less "good" eggs.

Regina - I am so excited for your first visit! If its anything like mine was, you'll find out a lot that the other doctors couldnt. I just feel like RE's and fertility doctors know so much more of what they are doing. Its definitely one step closer to your BFP!
Rebecca - I am so sorry you are losing steam.. you cant give up though, you're one of the people on here that I am always hoping gets a BFP when that thread pops up! You have been here for so many people, including myself when I was just an naive newbie. You are so bound to get your BFP, I just know it. But if in your time of need you need strength, we will be your strength and carry you back to where you need to be. *Hugs* Betsy - Hrm, that Fertility clinic sounds interesting. Definitely let us know when you find out more information. Stephanie - Hope things have been getting better for you. |

I haven't caught up on all the posts here, but want to just remind Regina and whomever else is worrying about it that I have diminished ovarian reserve. Which means don't give up all hope, because that doesn't mean it can't happen! It sucks to have to think about "M" getting closer (and I'm only 27!), but realize that "diminished" definitely doesn't mean "non-existant". Of course, there was a lot involved in getting me pregnant, but I think that had more to do with other issues (like the fact that I don't actually release eggs) than the low reserve.
Just wanted to give you all a bit of hope. I haven't forgotten the feelings that you are all dealing with... like I said before, I've been blessed with an amazing miracle, but I still consider myself infertile. |

Regina - an FSH level of 5 is actually good/normal. Just to give you a comparison, in Aug.06, my FSH level on day 3 was 22! 30 is considered to be in menopause. Now as time went on and they checked it each month after that, my level went down to 12 and then down again to 9 which was considered to be in the normal/fair range. I still think my high level was due to all of the ovary stimulating drugs I was on for about 9 mos. But, once they saw the high number, the plan was for donor eggs and that was what we did. I think your level is OK. Going to an RE is so much different than a reg. OB and they know so much more! I'm sure you will get answers from the RE! GL!
Betsy - do you have an underactive thyroid or an overactive one? My RE put me on thyroid meds after my bfp, b/c my TSH(thyroid stimulating hormone) is in the high average range. I have had my thyroid tested so many times over the years and it has always been high ave. - but the docs didn't do anything about it in the past b/c there was no need. Apparently my RE has read studies that show if you have high thyroid levels early in pg, it can cause probs. with the baby - hence I am on meds. I guess none of my body parts work right - my ovaries don't respond like they should and neither does my thyriod! I am glad to be seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist(RE) since they can figure out what to do about all of my wacky hormone levels!!! |

Rebecca I have high Thyroid levels. Have since probably 16. Different types of Thyroid issues run in my family. My Dad even had a part of his removed. Anyway they did put me on medication at that age and taking a pill every day of your life starting at the age of 16 just wasn't going to happen. So I didn't take it. This went on for years and years, docs would check it tell me to get on meds and I'd ignore them. Then when I was going ttc with my son, I had an enlarged nodule and went in for the radiation testing, & yet my stubborn 24 yr old butt just found it too difficult to swallow a pill every day. At that time my levels were at 14. I got pregnant and still never took the meds. Miraclously between the time of the radiation and the time I got pregnant my TSH was normal. Drs. were confused. It didn't become an issue again until I got off the pill now 2 years ago and the following month I started leaking from my boobs. I was thrilled convinced I was pregnant and already leaking milk.
In any event your thyroid is the thermometer of your body. Should be part of the initial b/w even for regular checks up but definately fertility. ![]()
