Sarah -
my first month - I only had one follicle also second month - three follicles I know it gets frustrating - and the lack of control is killing me - but I think as your body gets used to the meds - it will produce more!!!! |

Today is THE day! In 30 minutes we will be at the office, get ready for the IUI.
I am trying not to get myself overly-excited about this. The chances we were given are so low, and I only have 1 mature follicle. But it is amazing that a few months ago, I was pondering what could be wrong and thinking everything was perfect, and now, here we are already! Missy7- Best wishes tomorrow! Wouldn't it be exciting if it worked for both of us this weekend? That would be wild.... (Okay, I know I said I'm not getting excited. Chill, Sarah, chill.) |

Good luck right now
I would love it love it if we both got a BFP this cycle! |

Missy- I did not get any shots other than the hCG. My bloodwork had come back looking absolutely fine, so I am assuming that is why... no need for shots, I guess?
We got to see the spermies under the microscope after the wash (the nurse said since we are teachers we should enjoy it). It was really cool! DH got excited about how quickly they were moving... those little buggers were going nuts! The IUI seemed to go fine. Uncomfortable (like a pap), and one stab of pain when the actual insemination occurred, but it was over very quickly. My fingers are crossed. I'm trying so hard not to get my hopes up, but I want this SO badly! The tww has officially begun! Missy- are you getting the IUI done tomorrow? |

Sarah - I am so glad things went well! It is interesting to hear step by step of what they did, so thank you!
Well, I had an u/s done today to see if we can go ahead with IUI this month - and it is a go! I also only have one follicle, so percentages are much lower than I was hoping for (the doctor thought I should have had several within range and said he will increase clomid next month), but 1 in the right range and dropping the little guys right next to it is better odds than I have had before, so I am optimistic. I hear you though, Sarah. I want this so bad, but am trying to refrain myself from getting too excited. I sure hope it works out! I didn't have any shots, and I asked the doctor if there was a need for any tests or shots after IUI is done, and he said no. He said that I should come in on day 31 of my cycle if I haven't started AF yet, otherwise day 1 or 2 to start again. I go in tomorrow at 3! I hope everyone's day is going well! Melissa |

Sarah- Give us more details!! Did DH stay in the room with you? How do you feel? Did you have to stay laying down? Or can you go about your business as normal? How much was it? Or did your insurance cover it? Is the catherter really thin?
OMG your first IUI. Crazy how things change as the weeks go by. I really really hope you get a sticky bean!!!!!!! Missy - We want full details from you too tomorrow!! ![]()

Aah, Betsy, I love you for asking. Any excuse to have a lot to say!
The appointment was scheduled for 7a.m. Nurse told us to get it there within 15 minutes of production. We were late by three minutes. (Sure enough, just as a feared, we got held up by trains on two different roads... who would have thought so many trains would be passing through at 6:58a.m.?) Oh, one big detail... we were arguing in the car along the way, because I was afraid there was not enough... um, well, you know,... in the cup. DH explained his method of giving samples will improve over time. Anyway, I don't even know why we were arguing about it (like he can help it), but I was really scared they would tell us there wasn't enough for the IUI, so I was acting out on it. Anyway, got we got there, signed some paperwork (telling when sample was produced, etc.) Then we were told to come back in 45 minutes. Apparently the sample size was no problem at all. We went to breakfast, then came back. The nurse asked us if we'd like to see the sperm under the microscope, so we went to the lab and viewed it. Then DH and I went in the room. Nurse told me not to use the bathroom b/c of something to do with the uterus flattening out. Then it went basically like every other appointment, except the monitor wasn't on. The entire procedure lasted under 5 minutes. DH has gotten really relaxed in the room and jokes with the nurse and me when I'm on the table; I love having him there, it makes me feel so much better! After the IUI I remained lying down for 10 minutes. She told me to relax, of course I couldn't though, so I kept trying to talk. DH kept trying to quiet me down by making me do deep breathing and such. Of couse I couldn't relax, but it's nice to see DH playing such an important role! After the 10 minutes, I got dressed and left. I made the appointment next week for 7:15a.m., so I can find out prog. levels asap. Anyway, that's the scoop start to finish! It wasn't the most pleasant experience but certainly went by quickly enough. |
