I'm home!!!! Vacation was fantastic. We were the only guests at the lodge for about three days. It was so nice being able to spend time with our friend Sandy (the manager) and some of the staff. We went out on a fishing expedition one day - walked a mile portage through the bush to another lake and I caught the biggest bass ever! I will post pictures later. Dh was more excited than I was, I think. Bad news is, one of the cabin boys stole a good bit of cash out of my purse. good news is, it's been recovered and will be returned to us. Bad news is, I feel awful for his parents. They are such wonderful people and I know they taught their boys well. I think it was just one of those really stupid teenage boy things to do. Hopefully, he will have learned a lesson from it. Like Steph told me earlier, this may have saved him from becoming a criminal later in life. I just hope his dad doesn't kill him!

We got our dogs home and OMG did I miss them!! They were bathed, nails trimmed and have patriotic bandanas around their necks!! They were SO happy to see us. Dh was standing outside of the fence and Nimosh just paced back and forth whining and crying. He must have thought we were leaving him again!!!

Now it's time to unpack and get back to reality. No work tomorrow, thank goodness!!

Lauren - I have to check your DE thread to see what is happening with you now. I hope things are moving along.

Karyn - this is your first cycle since your shots, right?? I wouldn't be surprised if you O late. Your hormones could be a little out of whack.

Bets - Hi!

Lisa - Since I've been gone for over a week, would you like to come up here and cook me dinner?? I've been spoiled for a week!

Christie~ It would be so much fun to tailgate together!

Bec~ I am so glad you had fun! I have missed you around here. That's terrible about the guy stealing from you, but I am glad you will get your money back. Can't wait to see pics!

Lisa & Karyn ~ Cap'n and I went to a 4th of July potluck and I had to take pictures of what I made to show, I was happy with the results and I must say were crowd pleasers at the party....

I brought a fruit salad in a watermelon that I carved, this was my first attempt at that...

Cap'n models the 'patriotic cupcakes' that I made and put in the cupcake holder that I received for my birthday this year...

Wow almost scarey how quiet it is here. Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th and weekend.

We had a wonderful meal on the 4th with lots of leftovers. Saturday we just relaxed and yesterday Church and to Applebee's. Back to work today, wishing I could win the lottery and not work, but I doubt that will happen.

Mrs. Reid that is wonderful about nursing school, wishing you much success there.

Lauren glad you all had a nice weekend.

Steph are you packed up now?

Kayrn how did things go for you this weekend?

Irene missing you too.

Melissa love the watermelon basket, I have never done one of those. The cupcakes look great!

Rebecca glad you had a great time, would be glad to cook for us all if we could all meet up somewhere. I know you missed your fur babies, and I know they missed you too.

Claire the boston butt was great!

Beth where are you?

Hello to everyone else.

Rebecca - So glad to hear your vacation went well! Good job on catching a big fish! Glad the boy was caught & your money will be returned. I'm not giving much thought to my chart anymore, after going that long without AF, I'm sure things are out of whack this month!

Lauren - What is a corn hole set? Never heard of that!

Lisa - My weekend was busy at the campground! We had 120+ swimmers at the pool everyday!

Steph - Hope you had a good weekend! Did you get some more stuff packed up?

Claire - LOL@ the Boston butt! Can't wait to hear your take on the 'corn hole' set!

Melissa - I've always wanted to try the watermelon carving. I've seen it done as a buggy for baby showers, it's so cute! I need to try & open the pics again.

I am spending all day today cleaning! This weekend we have a party/reception to go to Saturday, so it will be nice to be away from the campground for a night!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Good morning ladies... I hope everyone had a great 4th! I'm assuming everyone was super busy since there's not that much to catch up on!

Lisa - glad you enjoyed your Boston Butt Leftovers are great too... its so nice not to have to think of what you're going to make for a couple of days.

Mel - the watermelon basket came out great and I love your cupcakes... that display stand is too cute. I'll have to give you the Magnolia's recipe for cupcakes (thats the cupcake place that was on SATC a few times)

Rebecca - I replied to you in the other thread already but I'll say welcome back again!! We missed you as much as your dogs did!!

Lauren - isn't it great how excited our DH's get over projects... I have to admit that I have no idea what a corn hole set is though We always get an education on here about customs in different parts of the US!

Mrs Reid - congrats on getting into nursing school... its great to hear how proud you are of getting into school... it sounds like it was really competitive so GO YOU!!!

I'll take a picture of DH's when he is finished, but this is what it looks like:
The boards look like this"

Bean bags

Found this online:
Cornhole , Corn Toss, Bags, Bean Bag Toss, Soft Horseshoes, Indiana Horseshoes, Tailgate Toss, Sacks and Holes, Sack-Hole, or Baggo is a game in which players take turns pitching small bags filled with corn (or sand or beans) at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. These platforms are usually plywood sometimes plastic and either all white or decorated with a team name or any other custom creation. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. Play continues until a player reaches the score of 21.
Regulation platforms measure 4 feet (1.2 m)×2 ft (0.6 m)[1], while standard tailgating platforms can measure 3 feet (0.9 m)×2 ft (0.6 m), but can vary. The height of the back end is 12 inches from the ground while the height of the front end can vary from 2½ to 4 inches. The Cornhole platforms are set 33ft from the inside edge of each hole (the 6" diameter holes are centered 9" in from the back) while the player can stand anywhere from no further than the back of the platform but not any closer than the front of the platform. Additionally, there must be a 12ft vertical clearance above the playing area.

Lauren - I'm such a dork! The game is called just 'bags' here. I was thinking that corn hole set was something used to make sweet corn while tailgaiting!!!

Irene - LOL!! Glad I wasn't the only one!

Kayrn we call it bean bag toss here. I thought that was what it was but not positive. I don't have one but would love to have a Gamecock one.

I'm so glad that Irene and Karyn asked about the cornhole boards! I meant to last night but got consumed with showing off my pictures! We don't have anything like that here...but then I've never been tailgating either, so maybe we do!

Karyn ~ Oooh, making a baby carriage! Making a mental note of that for the next baby shower....

Irene ~ Yes, yes, yes, I would love the recipe!!!

Mel - I've never been tailgating either - I didn't want to be the first to admit it though Here's the recipe: Magnolia Bakery’s Vanilla Cupcakes | Food Kids New York - DailyCandy They are sinfully sweet and when you see the ingredients you know why! Last time I went to my BFFs we had such a good time making these with her 4 and 2 yr old girls... they helped so as you can imagine it took twice as long and was 4x as messy as it should have been

Glad Everyone had a good 4th.

I sure am happy ya'll cleared up that whole "corn hole" thing......I was pretty confused-given what I was thinking. And I REALLY didn't understand why you'd use a tailgate instead of the backseat..........

But seriously, bean bag games? Ya'll are so wholesome I just want to hug you! On the fourth we just played drinking games and shot off the canon. yes, canon.

Mel- I really wish I had a "Martha Stewart" tiara for you.....I'm impressed! Carving gourds ain't just for halloween, huh?
