Thanks Steph. I think things are going to finally work themselves out. He's made it very clear to her, in no uncertain terms, that the only relationship they have at this point is that of parents. Having his mother and sisters be accepting of me was a huge step for us.

Em~That stinks that his ex took off with his son. That would be hard on someone, but good thing he has you for support I really hate when women hold children as hostages from their fathers. They're only hurting the children and being selffish! Glad you made it back safely!

I talked to my Dr's nurse today. I start taking clomid on CD3-7. So I start it Friday through Tuesday. Then i'll go in on CD12, if they're open since its a holiday, and have an u/s done. Assuming that will tell me the quality of my eggs and how many? She didn't really tell me. I'm excited to take it and am keeping my fingers crossed tightly that it works for DH and I. I hope I don't get really bad side effects from it too. I'm going to take it at night before bed and hope that helps. Has anyone had really bad side effects from it? My friend that took it, it didn't give her any side effects and she got pregnant on her 3rd month! Hope i'm that lucky!

Deanna - your u/s should tell you how many dominant follicles you have, though it probably won't tell you the quality of the eggs, just the size of the follies. the more follies you have, the more eggs you're likely to release which would up your chances of pregnancy. The only real side effect I had only clomid was hot flashes.

The other side effects were mostly emotional, in that I felt really broken having to take a drug to get pg, and I wasn't being monitored, so I didn't have any clue if it was doing anything. We've had a few girls recently with Clomid luck, so hopefully it will do the trick for you!

Deanna~ Em is right. Ultrasounds can only measure your follicles. Nothing can tell the quality of the eggs until you have them removed, like in ivf. I wish they could tell egg quality on an u/s! I could've figured out how to move on much faster if we knew my eggs sucked years ago!

Deanna - I'm sorry your team lost! It must be hard for you hearing a/b other people's plans to TTC. When we got pg, everyone was like, "Oh, you planned that timing perfectly" (b/c I'm a teacher and she was born at the very end of the year.) I just say thanks but if it had happened when we "planned" it, we would have been holding a baby 6 or 8 months ealier. I never talked much a/b TTC either b/c I didn't want questions. I'm the type of person who would just cry instead of trying to explain things to people.

Betsy - Yes, this IUI will get you pg. Is that what Carlos meant when he asked? I hope you will get to stay home w/ a baby w/ that $. Glad you have a plan A, B, C, D. Why would Carlos take Clomid (did I read that right)?

My guess is Betsy is getting Clomid shots from Carlos. But maybe Carlos should take the Clomid too. Betsy sounds like you have a great plan. I hope you don't have to wait any longer to hold your baby.

Christina - Thats so great! I feel better knowing someone that went there and had a great experience & success! My appt is with Dr. Joe Martin. He is the Dr. that my RE refers her patients to when they decide to do IVF. I think I can go to her for some of the monitoring too, so that could help. I am really looking forward to my appt there! I wish it was sooner.

Steph- I actually live in central Austin, but it usually takes about an hour & 15 to get to my father in laws house in SA. Since I had no idea where it is, I just guessed. I'd love to meet for Starbucks

Deanna - I had almost no side effects from Clomid. just hot flashes a couple times when I went up to 150mg a day. The good thing is its easy to take - much better than injectables.

Lauren - I read somewhere that although u/s measures follicles, it is possible for there to be multiple eggs in a single follicle. Have you heard this?

I like Tyra on ANTM, and as much as I think IF should be an open topic, I don't think I could go on tv to discuss it. Its one thing to tell my friends and family, and another to tell the world. But I do hope they find some women who are more fearless than me.

I got the info from the office in Austin today. I am really disapppointed. I asked for info on their services & pricing, and they sent me two peices of paper - both price lists. I didn;t even get an appt card. The lady was somewhat short with me on the phone, but I figured she was just busy. The SA office was so much nicer - they spent a good 20 minutes answering my questions....and with Christina's rave reviews, I think I will cancel my Austin appt & focus on SA!

Oh - & another friend at work is pg. 4 months. I was happy for her, but seriously....another one?? I can know count more than 15 friends that have gotten pg since we started trying. its getting ridiculous!

Sparky- Yes it is true that there can be multiple eggs in a follicle. They were able to extract around 13 or so eggs from me, when there were only 3 mature follicles. All of my eggs fertilized (but only a few survived.)

Okay - well I was hoping I'd be in a better mood tonight.....but NOPE

First of all my husband is playing this serious wrist slashing suicide romantic music and just singing away. I'm ready to scream. What the hell......... it's been like 2 hours. Turn on the TV or something. OMG it's terrible. I wish I could do a sound bit of it, so you can hear it. someone shoot me. It's that old 40's romantic spanish crap that mexicans listen too when they are drunk. My ears are bleeding.

Okay THEN!!!!!!!!!! I pick up my 11 year old son from theatre and he tells me "MOm I got news......and I look at him, and go what are you pregnant? And he replies CLOSE!!!!! I seriously had to look up at the sky and tell God okay enough already. So my son proceeds to tell me that one of the girls in his rep theatre is pregnant, she's 15..........oh wait it gets better........there is a girl there who has a 1 year and 7 month old son.........she's 15 too. do the math............that's right she had her son when she was 13.........and if you continue to do the math she got pregnant shortly after I started TTC. Now keep in mind this rep theatre is a children's theatre...for 4th graders until 8th graders. Not even high school!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was sick. I know my son has friends his age that DO NOT know about sex, anyway yeah maybe that's why I'm in a lousy mood. Carlos says I'm being ridiculous maybe that's why I'm being punished with the music.

Anyway.......

Lauren - Do you have different versions of the picture in your sig...cause I swear each time I look at it, it's different. I can't believe I'm doing another clomid/IUI combo either...in 3 weeks......seems so fast.

Rebecca - What really scares me is I do kegels, there is no reason for pee leakage!

Heidi - I actually don't mind when people say "when you get pregnant". Makes me feel better that they haven't completely given up on me.

Christina - Of course it means something coming from you! Don't be silly.

Deanna - (raising red flag)...um no ultrasound? My Dr does an ultrasound before started the clomid so he has a starting point of what the ovaries look like and what your lining looks like. But at least you are getting another ultrasound mid cycle. At that one not only the follicles, but you want to note the thickness of your uterus lining and also take note of what side you are Oing from. What mg of clomid did they give you.

Kelly - haha I think Carlos asked that question cause he wants off the roller coaster

Laura - I don't believe clomid comes in shots. But no Carlos won't be giving me shots again. My friend Lydia has volunteered for that job. It really is difficult for Carlos emotionally to do that. He pretty much broke down when I did the trigger last time.

Kelly/Jenna - Yes men can take clomid too. he'll be taking 1/2 a pill every day for 3 months. Whereas a woman take it for a few days. The problem is Carlos' testerone level is already at a normal level. So the poor guy will have to go get bw done every 10 days to be sure his testerone has gone up too high. Because too much testerone can inhibit sperm production so it's a very fine line. He has to go on my CD 1 with me to do a base bw in case the IUI doesn't work he's ready to go for the next cycle. The other balancing act is the doctor doesn't think Carlos' count will go up much higher, he can't believe it's gone as high as it has. MFI cases usually can get up to a certain level stay there for a few months then taper off no matter what the treatment is......so........I guess we'll see.......It's something different.

Betsy~The dr is starting me off with 50mg. It seems that most people get their BFP's taking 100mg, so we'll see. I've had a few u/s done in the past too, so maybe thats why she's not doing one before? I'm doing my best to think positive Will Carlos have side effects taking clomid like women do? Sorry you had to listen to that awful music last night!

Emily - What is she going to do, hide out the entire time DH is there? That will really be terrible if he can't see his son during his trip. Glad he wasn't too upset with the haircut! Didn't it feel good to have your hair brushed? I love that! DH likes to be funny when my hair is wet & part it & give me wings like in the 80's. Knock it off & just brush it would you!

Deanna - Yeah for starting Clomid, I hope this works for you! I just had bad headaches on it.

Betsy - That is just not right. I hate hearing stories like that. I think back to when I was in 8th grade, I can't even imagine having sex at that age!

Betsy - we listen to that music ALL.THE.TIME. Okay, that and the banda and duranguense music that is essentially polka music in Spanish? Who was he listening to? I bet it was Joan Sebastian. He's old school crooner. I also discovered that there are only about 100 songs in all of Mexico and they just have different people sing them in different styles. I can deal with it, and some of it I even like, but I do get really tired of the same stuff over and over again.

Karyn - I love getting my hair brushed!! It's part of the long hair pact. I keep my hair long because Juan likes it that way, he has to brush it anytime he's around and I need brushing. He used to hate doing it, but I think he secretly loves it now. I have no idea what she is going to do, but Juan sounded pretty upset last night. I really feel badly.

Sparky - I hope the RE Cristina recommended results in the same success for you!
