Sarah and Heidi....thanks so much for the info. I guess I'm still confused, though. If one pen is 900 iu, is that enough for the whole cycle or do you use one pen each day??

For an IVF cycle I was using up to 600iu a day, so I could go through cartridge pretty quickly.... but usually for an iui cycle people use between 75-150iu a day, so a 900u cartridge would last you for around 10-12 days.

OK that makes sense. Thanks Lauren! Might have seemed like a no brainer, but I want to be sure I understand the process.

Rebecca-Lauren is right that you use only one or at least I did. You attach a new needle each time you use it so you use it until it is finished or you trigger. It's very easy you just set the dial for the dosage and attach the needle. It will show you if there's not enough to do the dosage and what you might need from a second pen to complete it. It was confusing at first but once they showed it to me and gave me the instructions it was pretty easy. I think I still have some of my instructions and it shows you a step by step process. So if for some reason you don't get that just let me know and I'll be happy to send them to you.

Thanks Heidi. Perfectly clear now! Of course, we don't know that I'll even have to do the shots.

Well I'm hoping you will do all the research for nothing and this IUI will work!

Dh told me today that he's finally agreed to let his mom help. Apparently they were talking today and he asked her to go to our next appointment (providing that we need one). She basically said that she will do anything she can to help us give her a grandchild. He also said that she's going to get some books to read about IF and ART. She's a former RN and survivor of IF, so she has a lot of empathy for us, but isn't up to date on the processes that are done these days.

I'm lucky that my MIL is a good egg. She's a bit quirky about things and set in her ways, but a good egg none the less.

Rebecca, I am so happy that your DH is finally letting his mom help. I know that was a HUGE step for him, but really it is the ultimate gift that she can help give her son.

Rebecca-that is just wonderful that Dh is willing to let his mom help, and she wants to be informed about ART and IF. Ideally, you won't have to take that step, but it is nice to have support for if you do.

You are very lucky to have someone that supportive there to help you, hope you don't need it, but it is great to have her there ready and willing to help.

Rebecca-That is awesome and how nice to have that kind of support. I would have loved it. I agree take what you can get! Good luck and hopefully you won't even need but at least you have the start of another new plan in case.
