Update from Jen's other site....

It has been a while since I last posted - so just wanted to give an update. At our last doctor's visit (7/29) Andrew weighed in at 8lbs and 3ozs and measured 20 1/4 inches. There is no doubt in my mind he is nine pounds now. He is growing so fast!! His new favorite item is his swing. He can sit in that thing for hours. He is sleeping well...on me. As soon as I put him in the bassinet he wakes up. Oops! Unfortunately, I am having some trouble uploading new pictures. Once the site is fixed I will post an updated picture.

Little Andrew is growing like a weed, and I bet he isn't spoiled a bit.

Hello Everyone...

I had a moment so I wanted to check in. I haven't been diligent about updating the baby status website. There seems to be some issues with updating pictures. SO, I included a link to a few new pictures of our big guy!

We have a doctor's appointment so I will report on his official weight gain. I weighed myself (depressing) and then stepped on the scale with him and he is was 10 pounds - that was with pjs and a diaper - and they weigh him naked at the doctor. So, he may not be quite 10 pounds but still gaining. I have to go back to the feeding specialist for his final evaluation. I think he needs a new nipple! I think he is getting to big for the ones they recommended at the hospital. The feeding specialist recommended I bring in 3 different kind...Avent, Bornfree, Dr. Brown. Anyone have any good experience with any of these. He is a gulper and is getting to much gas. We have tried the slow flow and they even have me giving him a small amount of rice cereal (1 teaspoon) to slow him down. He just sucks harder. He is taking 3 ozs + the 1 tsp. The doctor said we should increase to 3 1/2 to 4 ozs but he just spits up. Sometimes he'll just leave an ounce or so in the bottle. I guess untimately he has the say in how much he takes. I was worried but seeing as he is gaining weight I guess I shouldn't. I have been pumping but not so religiously. I am still able to get 3 ozs for him for his feedings but I can't always pump during the day...I just worry what will happen when he starts taking more. I had a huge "stash" in the freezer and I am blowing through it. Hopefully I am not drying up already. The good news is he started taking my breast at night??? It was so strange. I just decided to try and he took it. We struggled with him for weeks and nothing I almost gave up. I just have to burp him more because he spits up more when he breast feeds. So, my initial goal was to BF for 1 year, then 6 months...I am happy I made it past the 3 month mark! Yesterday I gave him 3 ozs by bottle and he still seemed hungry - so I let him nurse. I just don't like knowing how much he is taking...kwim?

He has been sleeping great at night. For a while he was up for about 2 -3 hours every night. It was exhausting. I am happy to say he worked that out by himself. He does have a fussy time at night. I think that fussy time is pooping him out so he sleeps better at night. He has still been sleeping alot during the day too. It is not every day - but today is a sleeping day! Makes me nervous - like I should be doing more with him? But, everyone keeps telling me - if he wants to sleep, let him! Some days he'll sleep and other days I can't even pump because he is up constantly. As soon as I put him down he wakes! I wanted to start working out - which is what I should be doing right now.

We are having the Christening on 9/6. We decided on family only our best friends and their spouses. In total it is about 35 people. Not too bad. We reserved this little restaurant for lunch afterwards. I can't wait. I'm just wish I had more weight off - I am not looking forward to shopping for an outfit to wear...or pictures! UGH!

Hope all is well with everyone!!! Thanks for reading..

Hi Lisa - thanks! Friends from work gave it to me! Dh has the same plaid pants and Winston has a colloar like that too. It is too funny! My little preppy family!

The t-shirt in the last picture says "Daddy's little Wingman."

Jen- Charlie had tummy gas too.. Dr. Browns worked awesome for us. That is so great that he is latching on. Are you going to try nursing more now?
