Jen updated and said that Andrew has hit 6lbs!!! Amazing! And is doing great with his bottle feedings -- so well, that they took out his feeding tube for a 24hr 'test-run' to see how he does. Looks like our boy will be on his way home SOOOOON! YAY!

Hello all,
Yes, out little guy hit the 6 pound mark. 6lbs 1 oz to be exact. He passed his feeding tube test and they scheduled him to come home Saturday. I was a little nervous- because he hasn't really been feeding with the bottle that long. Well, he must have been a little nervous about going home too  . After I fed him last night he got very content and decided to hold his breath. His heart rate dipped. The doctor said - he is probably just tired from all the hard work - and that is how a preemie responds. They said we could wait a few more days or take him home on a monitor. I would love to wait a few more days and then take him on a monitor...but I decided that the few more days would be suficient. So, right now he is scheduled to come home on Tuesday...which is good because there is still a lot of work to be done. This was not a good week for me. I ended up spending the day with him on Mon. and came home feeling like crap. Turns out I had a fever. I had my follow up with my OB and he said he would give me a prescription for an antibiotic and I stayed away from the hospital on Tues. I felt so bad- I was so nervous I was going to get him sick. I went back yesterday and kept washing my hands and had a mask on. Then last night, I was driving home from the hospital about 3 miles from my house. It is a main road (2 lanes eastbound and westbound). Anyway, this guy all of a sudden swerved into the my lane (left lane going westbound). I don't know how but I managed to avoid head on collision but he totally hit me and knocked me into another car driving in the right lane. It happened in about 3 seconds but felt like 20 minutes. On top of everything he kept driving. One guys stopped and said the guy was driving on a rim and sparks were everywhere. I called my husband (who is a cop) and he came to the scene. They ended up finding the guy on a ramp getting onto the highway. He was drunk and admitted to falling asleep at the wheel. Unbelievable. I can't even look at my car...I just thank God I was driving a Jeep Cherokee...otherwise I would be in pretty bad shape. They took me to the hospital and checked me out - the hospital around here is the worst - that is why I drove 40 minutes to have my another at another hospital ! My biggest concern was I had to pump - my bbs hurt more then my neck and back - which are pretty stiff today.So, now I have no car and Andrew is due to come home on Tuesday...i swear I think we are jinxed sometimes.

Jen it will all work out! Thank goodness you are okay! YAY to Andrew coming home to begin his life at home now with his family. How exciting! And wow he is growing FAST! He will pass Riley in no time.

Jen - WOW I am SO glad that you are OK!!! Also that they found the guy! What a creep! Ugh!!! That is soo wonderful about Andrew! I don't blame you for giving him the few extra days at the hospital!!

Jen Congrats on the good news for Andrew coming home!!!! Im sure Abigail had a hand in making you not have a head on collision. She wanted to make sure you would not be hurt so that you could take care of her brother when he comes home.

No Jen you are not jinx, your guardian angel was there with you or things could have been a lot worse, you are very lucky. Glad you are okay, the Jeep can be replaced, but Andrew's Mama can't.
Hope you have gotten things together for the nursery, I know it is scarey and exciting all at the same time for Andrew to come home, but it will be fine. You are a great Mama and David a great Daddy. Winston will be a great big brother too, I am sure he will help you watch Andrew.

Jen~ OMGOsh, that is SO scarey! I am so glad that you are ok - and I agree. Angels are definitely watching over you, you are NOT jinxed. I'm so excited that Andrew is coming home!
