Default diet/ exercise

Does anybody know a good way to try to lose weight while ttc? I am in the process of IUI and am about forty pounds overweight. I know that the closest you are to your ideal weight, the better your chances for a healthy pregnancy, but I also know that it isn't good to start an exercise routine while trying to get pregnant, and it is important to eat healthy, but regularly.

Any suggestions for exercise or diets?

Thanks!
Melissa

I am interested in any responses also

I am in the same position - done 2 iui's and 30 lbs over weight

I want to lose weight - but the clomid is not helping

my doctor has not said that I need to lose - but I know I do

Do you have PCOS? I am trying to follow the diet recommended for that - but it is nearly impossible.

Kristen -
Is there somewhere online to find the PCOS diet? I don't think I have it, but I'd be interested to see what the diet is like. It could still work without PCOS.

Melissa and Kristen - YOGA!! YOGA!! YOGA!! Not only is it good exercise, it is mentally stimulating, helps you to relax, can improve fertility and is safe to continue during pregnancy (it has been shown to make labor easier).....

I have PCOS and have found the only way for me to loose weight (I am still about 10 lbs above my ideal weight) is to follow the South Beach Diet. It really changes the way you eat carbs and this has really helped me balance out my insulin levels
Also I agree with Rac, I love yoga!

Great! I will try some yoga then. I don't know if I could be consistent enough with the South Beach, but I could look into it some more before totally ruling it out. Thanks for your advice everyone!

I don't have PCOS - I have endometriosis. I have also noticed I am keeping weight much more now that I am on clomid. Does anybody know why that is? I don't think I am eating more and am just as active as before.

I have seriously been considering yoga - and now I have to try it

thank you!!!

the pcos diet is basically low carb - all your carbs should really come from vegetables and some fruit.

and everything should be organic.

clomid makes you gain weight because of the increase in hormones you produce while on it. My doc says most woman average 5-10lbs while on it.

Default Hey!

Missy-are you using the BBcode. Make sure that you copy all of it, when I couldn't get mine to show up I thought I copied the whole thing but I had not. Oh! And you can preview the message before submitting it & should be able to see if your ticker is working. Hope this helps.

Girls as far as diet...try a lifestyle like Weight Watchers!!! There are a few of us here that LOVE weight watchers!!! I plan to get right back on it after I have the baby. I was very succussful with it. There is a non-weight watchers website you should check out. This lady did WW and offers tons of info and recipes. www.dwlz.com Also make sure you scroll over her pic to see the before and after AMAZING!

Cassie-

Can you do weight watchers once you are pregnant, or do you just do it until you get pregnant?

With WW you are given a daily points value, before getting pg you could follow that, but after you can't limit yourself. You could continue eating the healthy meals of WW and that may help you keep your weight gain on track. I don't follow anything now that I'm pg. I'm just about 1/2 way and have gained 12-14 lbs. That's right on target so I feel like I am doing good.

Good for you... Okay, I will definitely give that a try. I have been trying so long to get pregnant, I hate to keep waiting on dieting until I get pregnant.

Thanks for the advice!
