I'm on 50 mgs from CD3-7. Just had my progesterone blood test this morning so depending on those results I might go up in dosage next month.

I'm a clomid graduate. I'd be happy to share experiences, if y'all like.

I had a 50 mg month with no response, a 100 mg month with no response, and a 150 mg month with 3 follies, one being a "winner."

Just wanted to update that with 50 mgs of clomid, my progesterone went from 7.1 to 19.7! What a nice big jump! I'm so psyched!

Girls, I hear everyone talking about Clomid all the time...what exactly does it do? And who do they prescribe it to?

Hey it is good to see you back posting!

Clomid is used to aid in the egg development. Depending on progestrone levels, follicle development, and other things too, they presecrible to boost those.

Dani, for me my doctor prescribed Clomid because my progesterone levels are low. This is usually a sign of "poor ovulation" or poor egg formation. So, Clomid helps my body do all the proper stuff pre-ovulation so that I have nice good eggs waiting for DH's swimmers.

Hey Dani!

Clomid is like Miracle Grow for your eggs It also slightly increases your chance of multiples.

Dani~

In my own personal opinion, natural progesterone cream is best for your body if your progesterone level is low. Clomid also increases your chances of ovarian cancer if you continue to use it for several months. I have a book about natual progesterone. It's really good.

My Dr is putting me on Clomid for two reasons. To help aid in the IUI mainly and b/c I'm older. My clock is ticking... tick, tock... tick, tick...

Gina~ I've heard a lot of good things about it too. My mom has a friend with PCOS, and as soon as she started using the natural prog. cream...she ovulated for the first time in 5 years....weird. She said it made her feel really good physically too. Is clomid a form of progesterone?

Synthetic, not natural. That's why it can be more harmful to your body.

Don't get me wrong, it does help aid in the conception of a BFP, but there's more risks and side effects.

The problem is that sometimes the reason your progesterone level is low is because ovulation was weak. So using progesterone cream or suppositories after the fact wouldn't do any good. I can only assume that clomid did something to affect my ovulation because my progesterone numbers jumped so drastically after only one cycle of it.

hmmm...I see. What would make an ovulation weak? As in it wouldn't survive?
