I was going to post a reply, but I erased it b/c I think I came across as callous when that would not be my intent. So instead I'll just say it that my IUI was not a bad experience, and in fact is the procedure itself is virtually pain free. It is quite amazing if you can actually watch what happens... I watched all my ultrasounds and the injection, and it was a neat experience.
The most difficult part is the 2ww afterward. You think it's bad waiting from month to month... it's ten times worse when you know you have been injected at the exact moment you should be, and you can do nothing but wait it out.
Really, there is nothing to be scared of. It feels so long ago that I don't remember it that well, to be honest. Oh, and I thought I would be uncomfortable with the idea of it (the whole "medical" aspect), but really, IUI was more cool than anything else.

You may want to PM Missy7t. She and I went through our IUI cycles together, and she got a bfp! She had a rough start with ttc, so it was really exciting to know that it worked for her.

I went through 4 iui's, I agree w/ Sarah they are totally painless and the 2ww is brutal. I did not find success and went onto ivf but the iui is so much less invasive that if it works thats great. Best of luck to you!

Just checking out other spots on the boards tonight, and I came across this... how have things been going with your IUI cycles? Are you still trying them? Like Sarah said, I was able to get pregnant the first cycle of IUI, although my dr. did warn me that I had a 25% chance each time, so to not hold my breath (I think most women have a 20% chance of getting pregnant normally). Do feel free to pm me if you have any questions! Good luck with everything!

Yup We had tried for about a year, miscarried, then found out through a laperoscopy that I had endometriosis. I had taken clomid for three cycles, then the fourth one we increased clomid with IUI. That is the one where we got pregnant. I also went on progesterone the first trimester to help him "stick" as my dr. described.
