Default Suggestions....

Like I said in my introduction thread, my DH and I have decided to start trying for our first due to some unsettling news. Anyways, I want to make sure I start this, Im sure VERY long journey, off right. I want to make sure that I am doing everything in my power to conceive a healthy baby. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am already taking prenatal pills for the Folic acid complex, and I am in the process of losing a few pounds because I have heard even losing 5 or 10 pounds can help conception....Any others that I have missed???

Lindsay - Welcome. You're off to a good start. The only other things I could suggest is watching your diet - get a lot of raw fruits and veggies, limit milk and milk products, reduce caffeine and try some stress reduction techniques (meditation, yoga etc).

Would you mind sharing why your doctor said that fertility treatments are the only way to get pg??

My doctor originally thought I had PCOS, but after SEVERAL tests he found that my hormone levels are normal. He did find that Im not ovulating at all on my own because the outside lining of my ovaries are too thick, so the eggs cannot burst through. So, because of that, I really only have one AF a year.....if that.

Has anyone else gone through anything like this???

Lindsay - wow, that's something different that I've never heard of. Gees. What is your doctor's game plan? Does he think that clomid or some other 'easy' option is possible or will you have to go directly to something like IVF?

He told me that being on Metformin and Clomid would help, but my question is, how can Clomid actually help me conceive? All it does it produce more eggs, but it doesnt make them any larger for them to burst through the ovary, correct???

Clomid helps people who don't ovulate regardless of why. Sometimes it makes more eggs, sometimes I helps the follicle to release the egg. I'm not really familliar with clomid because I have never used it, but there are a lot of girls here who have/are using it. Maybe they can give you more insight. My personal opinion.... being on met and clomid might do the trick.
