Melissa - I think something else that is in that spectrum is choosing and manipulating sperm/dna for insemination to produce the most intelligent, most creative, most artistic etc child - heck even choosing a gender. I know they do those things today! That I have issues with, but who am I to say, kwim?? Opinions are like @$$holes - everybody has one.

Wow, I'm not going to get into a long drawn out story about this, but Rac you just totally hit it on the head with me. Lately I have been so opinionated about everyone and everything, I don't know if it has anything to do with not being able to get pg yet or what. But I have basically gave my opinion to everyone and mostly all bad. I know that this is just one of those stages where I wonder who I really want to be friends with and what is important in my life. But I've taken things a little too far. And Rac you just made me really think about things, so what if I have an opinion, everyone does and it's just like an a$$hole.
Ok I know that was random, but I feel much better about everything.

Irene-Just thought I'd chime in to on the drinking in the 2ww and haircolor. I got to be like Rebecca.....after TTC for 2 years it seemed kind of silly to put everything on hold every month. I honestly think the only times I really didn't much drink was during my 2 injectable cycles. And I have also read something to the effect that until the placenta takes over I don't know how much it effects the baby/fetus. So definitely during the 2ww I don't think it'll hurt. Most of my friends followed the rule (as did my sister) until you were late or had a + HPT they didn't worry too much about it.
As for the hair coloring.....I did mine during the 2ww in case I was pg I knew I'd have to wait until the 2nd trimester. My OB gave the same advice as to what Bina said....best to do highlights and can do that as often as I'd like after the 1st trimester. Hair coloring really isn't bad like it used to be because the dyes are much better but she recommended if I did that only once during the pregnancy and none should be done during the 1st trimester. You'll drive yourself crazy sweating all this stuff and you'll find you put too much on hold. I missed out on a lot in those 2 years and to some extent regret it. Go have fun! |

Well, so far no spotting. The last few months I was spotting by now. I don't know if I should read that as a good sign, or if the clomid is just doing it's job.I'm getting tired of running to the bathroom every 10 minutes to check. LOL
The funny thing about the lunch meat is that when I was admitted in the hospital, I had just missed the dinner hour. My perinatalogist told me that there was a kitchen on the floor that was kept stocked with sandwiches and things and dh should go get me one. I questioned being able to eat the lunch meat and she said it was ok, that people worry about that because of the nitrates, but kids eat hot dogs all the time and it doesn't harm them. She never addressed the bacteria issue. ![]() So I ate it and even though it was just a plain sandwich, it tasted soooo good. I had been craving a sandwich, even though I usually don't like them. But still, when I'm pg again, I'm not even going to risk it.Melissa~Do you mean that you have to give these kids a big assignment? Or am I just reading that wrong? Good luck!!! |

I suppose I should be a lil more clear about the testing thing.....they did run a couple basic tests after the miscarriage...they tested for the RH factor, they tested my thyroid, they did the glucose thing, and then they did 2 other tests, but I don't remember what they were for....it was all blood work, and they said that everything came back fine.....
I'm going to have to call the office and ask so I can do a lil more research on my own.... |

Melissa... those are awesome subjects. I wish I had taken more Biology classes in college...I took one my last semester and got hooked, but didn't have time to take any more. Is this an AP class that you are teaching tomorrow? I'm sure you will do great!!
In family law, there were many cases regarding fertility treatment... we studied them for a good month and a half. There were cases in which the couple had both donor eggs and sperm, then seperated and were fighting over the unborn baby. Other cases where the couple had frozen embryos stored, they divorced, and the wife wanted to use them but the husband wanted them destroyed. There are many legal and ethic issues now with assisted reproduction. Dinner was fun... we ate Italian, so of course I am completely stuffed! I love pasta. ![]() |

Mare- You make me happy when you talk about family law. I love reading everything I can. I guess it would be an ethics thing with assisted reproduction. I can't wait to make it to law school. I have 2 more years, hopefully.
I am being kinda scare right now. I just want to make sure I did O on CD 11. Then, I am done with they temping and trying so hard. I am going to just BD whenever and have fun and hope for the best. TTYL! Go Melissa Go Melissa Go Go! Good luck! |

JJ ~ Yeah, the teacher is assigning a final project which is a two minute speech regarding a bioethical issue and they have to state their stance on the issue. They have to write a paragraph, an outline and bibliography in addition to the speech. Very elaborate assignment! I called and left a message for the teacher 45 minutes ago, I wrote down a list of questions, maybe I just called too late, oh well...
Rebecca and Mare ~ Thanks for the ideas. Yes, sperm sorting is a new schi-schi thing to do. I have read articles in People magazine about couples doing sperm sorting to get a baby of the opposite sex. If you haven't seen the movie GATTACA I highly recommend it. It deals with eugenics and in the future instead of discrimination against race, religion or sex, there is discrimination against the type of DNA you are born with. I talked to Cap'n on the phone tonight, he is staying the night in Central California with a hearing. I told him that I just don't feel good about this and the only way I'm going to get this job is if the other applicant doesn't show up! I just feel that this is very vague and I'm not sure I'm going to deliver what they are looking for... Thanks, Lindy

Good luck today Melissa! You'll do grrreat!
So no O yet, but there are some signs it might be coming soon, yesterday morning I could still feel the cervix (is that even spelled right?) and now not so much. But no on the opk and my temp still hasn't dropped. So a few weeks back I asked a pretty silly question, and I think I figured out the answer but still a little confused. So even if you don't O, you still have AF? So maybe this whole time I wasn't ever Oing? Go Lindy go! Well DH's BF actually came over last night, I was thinking baby steps with them. But I guess guys are so different, they can have a knock down drag out, and the next day hang out and act as if nothing happened. Very strange. No boating for us this weekend, we have DH's Dad's b-day, his sister has planned for us to go watch Roller Derby. And although that sounds like fun, I'm not too sure if that's what DH's Dad actually would want to do on his b-day, but I'm not going to throw him a party either. Irene - So how far away is Long Island for you? We try three applications of sunscreen a day, once thirty minutes prior, at lunch, and around 3 or 4. We came out alright last weekend, other than a few spots on my back that DH didn't get. Ok I better get in the shower, again I'm like a broken record here, I hope I O soon, or even at all. I mean that is a common problem right, that women don't O and that's why you do the clomid? bye bye

Well, this morning I noticed brown spotting (none in panties)... Sorry TMI. Now it is gone. I tell you... this cycle is messed up! FF said today was my test date, but I'm not wasting another one.
Lindy... if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Don't sell yourself short, Melissa... you rock Remember... you are interviewing them, too. |

JJ-I hope the no spotting is a good sign! And on the lunch meat, when I was PG with Avery I didn't even know about it until way into my PG and had been eating it all along. They say it is ok to eat as long as you heat it which would kill any bacteria, so I just get toasted subs, etc.
Angelbaby-do you know if they tested your progesterone level? Low progesterone can cause miscarriages, and it is simple to correct. |

I don't know what the heck is going on with my O. I had a positive OPK and my temp drop today is because we lowered the AC last night and I woke up cold. So, should I discard the temp or keep BD just in case. We did last night, but that was for fun! I did all the bad things and peed right after and everything.
Oh, and our stupid direct deposit didn't come through again! And they cut his hours to 40 a week. So, I have three part time jobs starting next week. Cleaning apt, cleaning my cousins auto parts wharehouse, and watching her son for the summer. He is looking for another part time job just so we can make it. I am not stressed about it because I know God will provide but we could really use a break at this point. Especially since DD bday is on the 11th of June and she gets out of school tomorrow! This is def. why I have to finish school. I go back this fall and am going to double up on classes. Thanks for letting me rant ! ![]() Go Melissa Go Melissa Go Go! |
