Irene - Last month when I knew that I had those two huge follies, I was hoping for twins, too. My only thing would be the gender. If I were to have two at a time, I'd want two of the same sex. I already have names for them..... Well, beggars can't be choosers, huh, just take a healthy baby (or two).

Rebecca - I agree that beggars can't be choosers! I will take anything at this point. We have boy names and girl names picked out but I'm sure we would have to rethink it if they were twins... I know they'll probably hate us for it but you have to do something kind of cutesy! I know the chance for twins is 7% and triplets only 1%... do you know how much the chances go up at higher doses of clomid?
|
|
||||
|
Irene - I don't know what the stats are with clomid and multiples. Certainly higher than a regular pg....
So, here are the names that we picked (several years ago). Girls.... Johnna Anne and Jordan Esther - Boys..... Graden Joseph and Garret Bradley. Well, dh doesn't know about the name Garret. Oh well. If we were to end up with a boy and a girl, they'd be Graden and Johnna. |

Rebecca - I like those names and thats what I mean about cutesy with the same first initial. I love the name Jordan for a girl. I don't think DH remembers that we picked names out because it was so long ago before we were trying. We liked Dylan James and Isabel Marie. Although now Isabella is the 2nd most popular name out there so we might have to change it. We have a hard time agreeing on names so we never came up with any backups... especially girls since he says the names I choose will lead them into a career as a porn star or stripper

And as far as clomid and multiples, it depends some on why you are taking the clomid to begin with. I've read everything from 5% to I think about 15%. There's a bunch of info in those old clomid threads I bumped a few weeks ago with stuff like that. |

Steph- Amen, sister! Lets have us a Mimosa....10:00 is a great time to start drinking!
Irene- ROFLMAO!!!!! I know, I know, I just let the cat out the bag, huh? When DH and I were first dating, he told me: "you are so amazing, I've never met a woman who is so hard and strong, yet so sensitive and soft on the inside" That's when I knew he was "the one", b/c he had figured me out! (ahhhhwww, doncha wanna puke?) I love the name Dylan. It's what I was going to be named if I had been a boy. I probably shouldn't tell you this, but my cousin's son is named Dylan James! I was so mad she named him Dylan- I wanted that name. I think we all need a "beggars can't be choosers" blinky Mare- Well, bummer. I was hoping the Dr. was going to have something more insightful than that. Oh well, {Raises mimosa} here's to starting another cycle! You are the one with PCOS, right? Can't that cause wonky OPKs? I was thinking all this in reference to Mary. Rac- ouch, real sorry bout the mood swings. I was like Emily Rose when I first went off BCP, so I can only imagine. Those are great names. Mary- I agree with seeing PG women everywhere. It's like they were passing out fertile water somewhere and didn't share! I was telling my cousin (did I mention she is having her baby today? ha ha) that I see PG girls everywhere but never fat like me. She said "Well, maybe you just think they are fat". DUH! That's a big fear of mine, that no one will be able to tell I'm PG ![]() |

Claire - thats funny - last time I posted my baby names on here Emily said that she has a niece named Isabelle Marie. So much for originality - maybe I should stick with the porn star names!!! Its good to know that you're a marshmallow - and DH loves you for it!
Steph - I just looked through the clomid club thread... there is good info in there on side effects. Doesn't seem like there's a real definite answer on how much your chances of multiples go up at different does though. I even looked on the FDA site for the drug and the only study they listed was 50 mg. Last edited by Irene : 06-03-2008 at 12:30 PM. |

This is going to be fast since I should really be leaving for work right about now. My u/s went fine. She had a resident with her (I think--she was a student anyway) who didn't quite know how to move the wand once it was inserted, but it wasn't *too* bad. LOL Once again, the RE said that she doesn't think I have a high chance of getting pg with my own eggs. The clomid really isn't doing much, since my fsh is high to begin with. DH's sample was good at the iui, so there's no need for iui. She doesn't know for sure that my eggs are bad, but with a failed clomid challenge test and small ovaries, along with high fsh, it all points to diminished ovarian reserve. She recommended a anti mullerian hormone test, which would be another indicator. It's a new test and I'd actually have to go to a different hospital to have it done, since they don't do it at the hospital I'm at. It's a little pricey, but I'm thinking that if it's going to let us know that we're wasting our time and money, it might be worth it.
I'm secretly hoping for twins too, even though my peri specifically said that when I'm pg again, we'll do an u/s at six weeks to "make sure there's only one". My RE's office said that the chance of twins on clomid is 10%. OK, gotta go, I'll write more specifics later on. |

JJ-Ouch for a newbie with the wand! Glad it wasn't too bad.
<------That's how I feel about your RE's opionion of your eggs. If you can, I would really do this fancy test. I'm all about knowing for sure, instead of just guessing. I think it is better for your piece of mind. Why are they worried about twins? Like, what would they do, there's not much they can, right?Irene- So, let's hear some of these porn star names! Maybe they are really only stripper names-LOL |

JJ - Did your RE say anything about trying injectibles first before shutting out the idea of your own eggs?? From what my RE said, they're much more effective than clomid since they're the actual hormone that you're injecting and not a pill that is telling the pituitary to do something. I've never heard of that other test, either. Would you be open to IVF, if IUI/clomid/possibly injectibles don't work? I just don't want to see you go into something that you may possibly not have to. kwim?

Claire - Alright I'll give one since I don't think I've heard anyone suggest it (I'm deathly afraid of offending anyone with DH's loudmouth opinions
I would imagine the fear with twins is that there's an increased risk of miscarriage with any multiples... but like you said what can they do?! JJ - I've never heard of that test either but I think it would be worth the extra money if it gave you a more definitive answer. And Last edited by Irene : 06-03-2008 at 12:57 PM. |

Claire-I've seen the perfect T-shirt for you WHEN you get PG, It says "Pregnant, not fat"
Irene-don't you just hate it when a name you love becomes too popular. Unfortunately, Avery is getting popular here in TX Rac-Johna..what a great name! |
|
||||
|
Bina - wouldn't you know it - I was referring to the social security site when I said Isabella was the 2nd most popular name but when I checked by state in NY Isabella and Michael are both #1!!! I wonder what bumped Isabella up there... we decided we liked Isabel back in 2003 when the hurricane made the news.

Bina - Dh's dad's name was John so that's why we chose Johnna. Plus, I've always liked that name. There was a girl who worked at Lerner's back when Lerner was 'new'. Her name was Johnna. She was the nicest person and always helped me. When it came time for Christmas or birthday, I told my bf's to go there and ask for her. She'd know what I like. LOL

Bina- Gimme gimme! Where can I find that shirt? LOL!!!!
Irene- Well, Taylor isn't bad! I thought you were thinking about something like "Misty Humpsalot". I've never told anyone but DH: But My fave girl name (right now) is Danica Claire (claire is actually my MIDDLE name. It is also my MIL's Middle name, we thought that coincidence means that if we have a girl, Claire is the middle name for sure) And with Danica, I could call her Dani for short.....feminine but not too girly, KWIM? |
