Bina - that figures since I love chimichangas... I think here in NYC you can get pretty much anything authentic but my point was that I probably wouldn't know the difference since I've never been to NM or TX (or Mexico LOL!) I figure if I like it thats all that matters

Hi ladies! I haven't posted in awhile. Trying to not stress about TTC right now and its actually really nice. I'm not worrying or doing anything until after Mexico. I leave in almost 2 weeks! Can't wait! On the other hand, I am 12DPO today, but I think i'm 13DPO really. My bbs are not sore or anything and I have no sign of AF. She should be here this weekend. I'm not gonna think about it though!!!

Irene~I'm coming to NYC Saturday!!! Friday night we're going to a baseball game in Philly then Saturday we're going to NYC. My BIL has a friend that lives in Statton Island, so not to far from NYC...right? Got any good place to go check out? How far are you from NYC? Wasn't sure if you lived in town or what. That would be awesome if we could meet up!

Hope everyone has a good day and a great weekend!

Bina~I always laugh because at school, whenever they serve tacos, the Hispanic kids say "We're having Taco Bell for lunch". I guess they know that both Taco Bell's tacos and school's tacos are not REAL tacos!

If AF is only a few tablespoons or half a cup or whatever, why can't it all come at once and be done with it in a day or so!!! LOL

Deanna - how are the new wheels?? Had to chuckle when I saw your post. New Yorkers try to pretend that Staten Island isn't part of NY, same as upstate. It's kinda far from the city, are you renting a car or taking trains? In car you have to get through Brooklyn, to make it to NYC. What is your plan for Saturday? When we were in high school we used to cut school and go to South Street Seaport. ahhh the good ole days.

Claire - my husband is born and raised in central mexico. Leon, Guanaguato. So everything he makes is authentic and from scratch, even the tortillas. The first time he saw packaged tortillas in my fridge he almost had a coronary. Luckily we live in a high Mexican area so he can find all the ingredients he needs pretty easily.

Irene - The mexican food in NY isn't authentic. Just like the pizza in Cali sucks. (although I did find a place that is pretty damn close)

Bina - That's why my husband hates eating out to Mexican places. It starts with the chips & salsa. I have to hear it for 15 minutes that in mexico they would never do that.

Betsy~ My sister's husbands family is from Guanajuato. Well I think so anyway. They got me a shot glass from there when they visited a couple years ago. Small world.

Ok, so I was going to let the mex food thing die......but then one of my salesmen brought Tamales this AM for breakfast. OMG, yummy. He bought them from some old vieja who sells them on her front porch in a town of about 100people.....now THAT's authentic, Steph-

Betsy- LOL at the packaged tortilla coronary! There are men here who have divorced thier wives for serving them that. The culture here is amazing (probably has many similarities to cali). There are folks here who only speak spanish but have never been to mexico....or out of this state, for that matter.

Deanna- I'm so excited for your trip! Glad you aren't stressing about TTC.

Bina- LOL

Irene- I think Betsy called it perfect with the Pizza analogy. Here, we call it "mex" food, for lack of anything better. But really it is the Native American influence that sets the food here apart from anything in Mexico.....come to think of it, I bet the tamale I had for breakfast is probably one of those unique foods.

Oh, and I don't know if she is "pretending" to be a lesbian in the song. There's some line about how she hopes her boyfriend is ok with her kissing a girl. The singer (who's name escapes me) I just read somewhere that she is "saving herself for Miley Cyrus". Ummm....I'm pretty sure statutory rape still aplies to lesbian sex-LOL

Mel- Hope I didn't freak you out with my pancake batter! I'm bummed no one else saw that in school.....explains alot though.....

Betsy~I love my new wheels!!! DH talked me out of the Lincoln I wanted, so he won and bought me a BMW instead. Its not brand new or anything, its an 04 but its new to me. Better gas milage than my stupid jeep! So Staten Island (sorry for misspelling earlier) isn't close to NYC??? I have no clue! I know that BIL mentioned taking a train. Are they scary? My first thought was....I'm bringin my gun then...just by the movies trains are where people get murdered lol. I want to go to some cool bars that aren't an arm and a leg. Any chance to see a celebrity? I would like to go to Ground Zero too and see the Statue of Liberty.

SEE? It's not just ME who won't go to NYC without my gun!

Deanna- oooo, you got a beamer? Nice! I no nothing about NYC or Statton Island-but I agree, the trains are where ppl get killed....that and the streets....oh yeah and the cabs.....I watch way too much Law & Order.

Its amazing that I'm still alive after 33 years in NYC You guys crack me up!

Betsy - Really I'm surprised that there's not a single place in NYC that would serve authentic mexican food since I'm sure there have to be some transplants here oh well I will continue to eat my "fake" mexican food and enjoy it thoroughly!! I guess its like the chinese places that serve fried chicken And yes we have the corner on pizza here... and bagels too.

Deanna - I've never actually been to Staten Island and Betsy is right that Manhattanites are snobby about SI - actually all of the boroughs for that matter. I can't say that I've run into too many celebrities either... sorry to disappoint but they're not hanging out on every corner... especially if you want to go places that aren't an arm and a leg . Does your BIL's friend have a plan for where he wants to take you guys? I'll try to think of some things but I'm not really sure what you're looking for... I wish we could meet up but we'll be on Long Island Saturday - I was hoping we could come back to NYC Saturday night but we have to rent a car on LI Sunday morning to drive up to my Aunts (renting a car from there is half the price then renting in Manhattan - its ridiculous!)

Good morning, goils! Ahhh...there is nothing better than waking up and reading on here and LMAO!

Claire ~ Sorry I didn't make it for dinner last night, traffic, ugh. WTF with that creepy video? Eww, no! Maybe b/ I went to a Catholic school the nuns thought a pancake batter analogy was gross? idk

Irene ~ I'm right there with you in the sour cream vs. guac debate. I love sour cream. I love dairy really. My body on the other hand doesn't like it. But I don't care, I've given up some major things in my diet, dairy won't be one of them. I love chimichangas too I think the song, by Katy Perry (Claire, that's for you) is an experimental one, she just kissed a girl - the end. Wow, I can't believe I'm the only person on her who likes the song...
BTW, I was in the store getting another pack of OPKs the other day and I went looking at the fish oils...I had in my hand the Omega 3-6-9 bottle and I noticed that some of the bottles had flax seed oil in them. I take that after I O, add the flax seed, take out the EPO. Even though all the bottles promised the Fish Oil was lemon flavored, I couldn't bring myself to get it...what kind did you get again? Just straight Omega-3?

Deanna & Claire ~ You gals crack me up with your guns. I've been watching Kathy Griffin's My Life on the D List and there was this episode where Kathy and her two assistants shot guns at a shooting range for the first time and it was so hilarious! That would totally be me handling a gun for the first time - if I ever did.

Mary ~ How did your OPK test come out? You know comparing an old one with new one? I'm doing that this time around. I have the 20 pack of Answers (that are two months old) and a brand new pack of the Rite-Aid 7 pack brand. This morning, the Answer came out + and the Rite Aid Brand came out -. I marked it - on my chart and figured I would follow the new brand. I wanted to buy the FR or CBE brand but I just couldn't bring myself to shell out $30.

Bina ~ Can I have that link again for the digi-backlight-thermometer? I want to send it to my friend who is going to start TTC.

Guess what? I got a phone call this morning from the fertility specialist at my hospital. She said that she is a primary fertility specialist but wants to send me to the secondary fertility specialist in Oakland. Apparently, I have to take another infertility class in order to get an appointment! Erg. She listed off all the dates and there was one today at 5 and I blurted out, I can go today. Might as well get it over with so I can get that damn appt which will probably be months away anyway. But the exciting part is taking the next steps!

Claire/Deanna~You both crack me up with your guns. My dad grew up in NYC, so I've spent plenty of summers there, visiting relatives. I can safely say that I've never met a celebrity and never needed a gun on the subway. LOL I love NY and miss it--haven't been back since my grandparents died.

Mel~Why does she want to send you somewhere else? Yay for going to the next step!

I wish AF would leave already! It's been longer and heavier this month than normal. I wonder if I can blame it on the clomid. However, it seems strange not taking it this month, after taking it for three months. I'm kind of glad in a way...

Hello ladies!

Wow, I have a lot to catch up on. I only had time to skim the posts. I will read them all later and respond when I have more time. This week has been crazy for me! Work has been busy, and then I've been cleaning up the house (we have guests coming in next week). So... lots to do.

My appt is tomorrow at 1:15... getting anxious. I didn't test this morning; I'll just wait until I get the bloodwork done. I've been so busy, it has been easier not to test than other months. Weird... i guess I'm also afraid of getting a bfn instead of a darker line .

Thanks for the information about Alaska I saw the excursion for the crab pots, Mel... it looks really cool. I went on vacation to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina last year, and they had a crabbing boat (I think for blue crabs). I have a picture from the trip on my myspace entitled "I'll admit it... I caught crabs." LOL.

EDIT: Just saw the picture of the starfish... it looks cool!! I've never seen one like that before.

I'm looking forward to the fresh seafood!! Dh and I were looking into Halibut fishing as an excursion in Sitka. They will pack up the fish and ship them home for you. Yummy!

Well, off to clean, and then heading out to dinner. I wish we were eating Mexican! lol. It is my dad's birthday, so we are going to his favorite Italian restaurant.

Irene~Darn I wanted to see someone famous! Even if I did, I wouldn't know it i'm sure. I just basically want to go to Times Square or something. I've never been to NYC and i've always wanted to go. Don't people set up little stands and stuff? I know you can buy cheap knock off purses lol. I'd like to go out to a bar....dancing type or sports bar since i'll be with guys. I was trying to look up restaurants to go to also. I bet we'll drive to SI and then a train or taxi or something back. All I know is i'm drinking and i'm not the DD this time! I hope its nice out too. That stinks you'll be gone. I'd like to go to Long Island sometime too. I have an ex-boyfriend that lives there with his gay uncle. Well he did.

Claire~I agree! I watch way to much CSI and Law & Order. I love those types of shows even though they're not realistic. Especially CSI! Cab drivers are freaky too. Forgot about those! At least there will be at least 5 of us.

Mel/JJ~Glad we made you laugh with our guns! I love to shoot my gun too. I just had to qualify with it recently and its fun. I was really thinking of taking it, but its not a very well concealable gun. You would be able to tell big time!

Mare - your temps are looking good! I don't know how you're resisting...

Deanna - I saw Brooke Shields once years ago. And DH has actually seen Diddy a few times (once was in Memphis though)... we had a running joke for awhile that Diddy must be following him around. But really I can't think of any other celebs I've seen... except back in college when my friend and I used to try to sneak into things like the Daytime Emmy's... I saw tons of soap stars and back then I used to watch GH religiously so I was in heaven.

What kind of food do you guys like? After all this conversation I will NOT suggest a Mexican place LOL!

Deanna- I went to NYC with 2 girlfriends and it is not scary at all.. not anymore than anywhere else IMO. I loved the Subway and the train was fine too. Cab drivers really do drive crazy there, but that's part of the experience. I don't like to be in any city late at night by myself though..

Deanna ~ Since it's your first time to NYC you have to do some of the touristy stuff besides Times Square...Empire State Building, Central Park, Statue of Liberty, definitely Ground Zero. Next time I go, I want to take a SATC bus that hits all of the hot spots and go back to Greenwich Village to take pictures in front of the apartment building that was featured in Friends. In terms of places to eat, I know I would want to go to the soup kitchen featured in Seinfeld and go to that hot dog place, help me out here, Irene, Pink Mango? Something like that, featured in the movie, Fools Rush In.

JJ ~ Apparently Kaiser does all its "hard core" infertility stuff in Oakland which equals a farther drive for me. Hopefully, I won't have to bring any future s/a samples there unless it is done on site - there is no way I could get it there in 20 minutes. I reminded Cap'n this morning to check up on adding me to his insurance, so maybe I won't have to endure this for much longer...
