Rhea ~ Skagway lesson: imagine if you will, being in a teeny town 1 whole mile long, five straight months. With nothing to do but work your a$$ off, drink your a$$ off, eat and fish and hike. Or mess around with other 'summer locals' after an evening of drinking. LMAO! But I digress...Skagway is so tiny, it has a landing strip. They literally hand you a stack of FedEx boxes to hold on your lap when you fly in from Juneau. The closest real store is two hours away in Canada. If you don't get milk from the in-town grocery store on Tuesday when it's delivered, you may well have to go without. And work, the same, day in, day out, you work SO HARD. There's just a little 'The Shining' aspect to it. You are just clawing the walls by the end of the season. We actually made a list of our 'favorite' things that the visitors asked us (sarcastic favorite). Like people would ask us what the elevation was (uh...you just got off a ship...it's like, an inch?). Or did we take american money (uh...yeah, cause Alaska is part of the US)...

But it's cool too, to be able to take a walk at 11pm and it still be light. To be right there at the water. To have fresh shrimp and crab boils. To party your a$$ off. To be totally, TOTALLY safe walking home at 4am, drunk as a skunk. To see the salmon swimming upstream. All that stuff is SO cool. We all still say it, even the people who have done it many more times than I...you're out of your mind by the end of the season (very end of September), but by that next spring, you miss it, and are excited to get there and start it all over again.

Oh, I'm feeling nostalgic...I wanna go to Skagway...

RE: Florida for the seafood...I dunno...I'm gonna miss our tex-mex an awful lot though. Not that I eat it much anymore. But there's nothing like a really good breakfast taco sometimes...or a nice plate of fajitas or enchiladas...mmm...

Skagway sound like all kinds of fun! But then again, I like to be isolated, I feel safer that way. I like the elevation question- my parents said that someone on a boat to Kodiak island asked that on their trip.....That's bad when you are sitting in the water at sea level and ask that question: HA HA. Now, were you working in jewlery there?

Eh, you can get Tex-mex anywhere......they have taco bell in FL. LOL! j/k....if you've ever been here to SF, you know that Tacobell is no substitute....of course, what we have here isn't at all Tex-mex, but I'm so off subject now, it's not even funny. Is it lunchtime yet?

Yes, jewelry store. I have a friend I went to school with who has a store up there and I worked two seasons a few years ago.

I mean REAL Tex-Mex. Taco Bell doesn't count. You can't sneeze without tripping over a Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. Not that I eat too much of that stuff anymore anyway, so I'm sure I'll survive. And it's not like I won't visit.

HA HA, yes I know Toxic Hell doesn't count. But when I spent a month in the midwest, I was jonesing SO bad for my native NM food that we had to travel out of our way when we saw a Taco Bell sign-LOL.

I go to Mexican restaurants all over the country -- it's a fun little habit I developed years ago to amuse myself with. Never had bad food, just usually kinda bland. And they really like cilantro and flavored tortillas in SoCal. And the margeritas were very *yawn* in Jacksonville Florida. And made with white wine in Seattle. LOL!

No, no, no no ,no. You did NOT just tell me that somewhere they served a margarita made with white wine instead of TEQUILA?!?!?

Something just dawned on me: Did Betsy say something about Mel having Capn's S/A sample IN HER BOOBS? Maybe that was a typo.......Don't tell me Mel drove to the lab with a cup of baby batter in her cleavage!

Claire- Yes, in the cleavage. It keeps them body temperature. LOL

JJ- Yes, boo to crappy AFs. Sorry about the results from the bloodwork but I am glad you at least have concrete answers and some direction. HUGS

Jen- I am so glad you feel optimistic. Keep us posted and congrats again!

Irene- I hope your doctor is WRONG and you only need one month. Obviously we subscribe to the same "flood the gates" theory LOL

Bina- Glad your cycles seem to be regulating. Do you have to wait through one more AF or two?

Mary- LOL at Taco Bell.. I seem to only eat it when I am out late, inhibriated, and on the way home (not driving of course )

Steph- I agree, Mexican is very different everywhere. You never know what you will get IMO LOL about the margaritas.

Mel- Sorry about the retest. KUP My DH would not like doing that in the parking lot either.

Mare- You are holding out on us! I hope you get a nice strong BFP in the morning.

AF has finally let up some. GOsh, I swear that was ridiculous. I think I ruined like 4 pairs of panties LOL I just can't make myself use anything but tampons. Yuck. Chilling on CD3.. got a ways to go!

Christie- OMG, sorry bout the bad AF. I don't blame you about tampons-I feel the same way. So, is this heavy AF a normal thing for you?

It's funny to think that DH's wouldn't want to produce their sample in the parking lot......I remember boys in high school wanting to get it on in way less hospitable places....LOL.

Claire- My AF used to be really bad when I was in high school. My dr. put me on the pill at 18 because I would have AF for 10+ days and was anemic from the blood loss. I expected them to return to that after being pg but so far they are only 4-5 days just REALLY heavy.

Christie- Oh really? 10 days? Wow. I wonder what causes that? They put me on the pill at 15 bc of cramps and a cyst. Gosh, did any of us get the pill in highschool because we were having sex? LOL.

Well, I hope your AF doesn't get any worse.

When DH went the first time to Quest they told him to put the sample under his armpit and I thought that was funny... in the cleavage is even funnier!

Christie - Sorry about the ruined undies... maybe you could wear a pantyliner with the tampons. I'm with you on the tampons... I used pads after the chemical and then I tried again last month because Rebecca listed all the bad things about tampons... BUT I don't think I'm doing that again especially since now its summertime and there is nothing worse in the heat. Ick! I don't think I flooded the gates quite as much as you did but here's hoping!!

Irene- So, wait a min, we are supposed to keep DH's "boys" cool, but his swimmers warm? LOL. It's a really good thing DH did his "in house" bc I don't think I could trust him to transport his sample correctly.

OMG!!!! what the heck brought the WACKOS out today? I got my third "WTF" Call of the day. Some person who is not a client, just called me and asked if a specific type of pipe would freeze. (ok, first off-MAJOR duh. If water gets to 32 degrees, it freezes. No PIPE can fix that) And I tell him, "well if that pipe is exposed to freezing temps, the water in it will freeze, yes". He tells me "look, ma'am I NEED to know the answer to my question. Someone told my mother that it didn't freeze." . I explained it to him again and I think I got him to get it. I just wanted to tell him "look, dude, it's not MY fault you hired some idiot plumber to go to your mom's house!" I swear, people just assume that because I'm a chick and I answer the phone, I have NO IDEA what I'm talking about.

Irene- Seriously, I know they aren't great for you but I cannot stand pads.. yuck O! After Charlie that 3 weeks of bleeding was NASTY. (small price to pay I know)

Claire- LOL

Claire - I work in a male-dominated field too and people always seem to assume I'm the secretary and don't know what I'm talking about either... we've come a long way baby but apparently we still have a ways to go!!
