So a questions for you ladies:

My doctor suggested that I chart my BBT so I bought a BBT thermometer. Good idea, right? Well, this thermometer beeps throughout the whole time it is taking your temperature and it is really annoying to my hubby. I found another "fever" thermometer which is backlit (which is one of the features that I liked before). Are BBT thermometers really any different? Will my results be any different?

LittleRed ~ My understanding re the BBT vs other thermometers is that the BBT measures to the nearest tenth and is more sensitive, b/ the temp spike that indicates O is not necessarily by a whole degree but by tenths and I don't think that a regular thermometer is that sensitive. I use the thermometer that you are referring to and before that I had one that did not beep until ready to be read but it lacked a backlight. A good solution for you may be to get the kind of BBT that doesn't beep all the time and keep a flashlight along with pad and paper bedside so that you can jot down the temp after looking at it with the flashlight (if it doesn't have that feature where you can turn it on and it gives you the last temp read). Littlered- Yeah, don't use a reg thermometer-they just aren't quite sensitive enough. I have a BBT and a tiny maglight (because I LOST the one that is just like Mel's-oops) I think any of them are fine. I just bought whichever one they had at the drugstore. I'm not even sure it has a brand name. It was about $10.00.

Littlered- I just have the regular drug store BBT. It doesn't have a light so I use my cell phone to read it after it beeps. HTH
