Kelly - I talked to the nurse, who had talked to the Dr.
I don't know what to do, but honestly, you just inspired me. I saw your Catholic blinkie. I'm Catholic too, and I think I'm going to leave work for a minute and have a quiet moment to pray. |

Meredith - I'm so sorry! I agree with Cristina! This is crazy! I believe this has seriously turned into a medical issue, we are no longer talking about ttc....well we are but the first issue is your health! I don't understand how it could not be covered! If the doctor properly codes the claim and talks to the insurance company I would assume they could get it covered. So, what are they suggesting?? If you are not covered and still bleeding are you just supposed to deal with it on your own? I don't get it? I'm sorry I don't mean to sound attacking towards you at all! I know you are doing what they are advising you to do. It just sounds strange. I really hope the meds do kick in!

Meredith - You need to just show up there or an emergency room. And not leave until they give you something to fix it. Tell them you are feeling faint, dizzy, something else. If you have someone who can go with you, that would be even better. Do not be afraid to impose on them. This is their obligation to take care of you! What does DH say about all of this?? Do you have a PCP in addition to this doctor? Or is this your main doctor?

Mere-I think you should at least go to your pcp & ask for a cbc (complete blood count). You need to make sure that you aren't anemic or have a low blood count. I am so sorry that you are going through this. You will be in my thoughts & prayers. Please keep us updated.

I agree with the others. I really think you need to get back on the phone, at the very least, and ask exactly how long they expect you to wait?!?!?! I'm pretty sure 38 days would constitute long enough in the eyes of each and every woman on this planet! Why on earth are they waiting until the 17th? That is over two more weeks of this sh*t! Sorry, but I am really upset about this (as I think we all are).
I also think you should consider trying to get another doctor. Remember, I got completely pi**ed with that one fertility clinic, called another one and was able to get in immediately. I know you are worried about your insurance. I think you need to just take action, anyway. I think that the doctors should be able to code the bill in a way that you should be able to get covered. BTW, when I talk to the insurance claims people, they tell me mostly everything is NOT covered. But everything that has been submitted has been covered after all. So don't unnecessarily lose all hope. I am really, really hoping you advocate for yourself and GET IN TO SEE A DOCTOR. This is absolutely ridiculous. Tell them you are feeling miserable, you are scared, and you need to see a doctor. I really do think it would be good for you to call others, though. What about a fertility specialist? Maybe they can get you in quicker b/c of less patients. |

Hi Ladies – Well DH was not surprised by the results at all. As many of you know it’s what he expected all along. He was actually excited he had some swimmers at all. He’s not concerned at all. This honestly just infuriated me. Luckily he went to school after we talked so I was able to do more crying & reflecting on my own. The only thing I can think of changing is switching him from briefs to boxers and cutting his caffeine. Everything else he already does. He’s on FB, he doesn’t drink or smoke, he eats really well, lots of veggies & fruits. The only bad thing is his job & that we can’t change.
This morning on my drive into work I was feeling really positive. Thinking it only takes one. We will be fine. Then 30 minutes later I was thinking it’s hopeless. Not going to happen. Why bother charting? Why bother doing anything. A part of me is relieved it’s “not me” although technically we still don’t know that since I haven’t been tested for anything. And then another part of me would have preferred it was “me” since I have more control over my body. I’m having a harder time accepting this than I expected. I really thought I would be over it by this morning. The worst part I couldn’t even be with him intimately last night & luckily he didn’t try too hard. I’m still waiting for my OB/GYN to call me to see what our next step is. Since DH doesn’t have insurance I just plan on calling RE’s on my own and see where we go from there. Can’t wait to see the price tag on that. Thanks for all your words ladies. We all have our own demons to fight but at least we can do it together. <hugs right back atcha> ![]()

Betsy - I am really sorry you are having to deal with this! I'm sure DH is let down too...confirming the news must be a bit of a blow. In a way it may be better for you that you are not having to be strong and support a sad DH. He is seeing the positives that there are some in there. And you are right, it does take just one. How long has he taken FB? It says it can be up to 3 months to get results. Best of luck to you sweetie! Don't give up keep checking your options. (((BIG HUGS TO YOU!)))

What a difference a day makes!!!
I feel much better. I had another mini breakdown this morning but I’m over it. Still waiting for my OB to call me back!!! I’ve called them every hour so now I’m harassing them so they may never call me back, but I don’t care anymore!!! In the meantime as continuing proof that insurance companies and high end dr offices SUCK….my husband went to a low income clinic in February since he has no insurance. I called them today. Told them the situation. We have an appt next Wednesday for my husband to have an exam and full blood work done. And it will cost us $20 for the visit $75 for the blood work. He will then refer us to an RE from there. WAS THAT SO FLIPPING HARD????? Unbelievable. Not to offend anyone…but no wonder low income families have more kids their doctors actually CARE!!!!!! My OB/GYN is in a very high end area of Orange County…and NOTHING!!! Then I call my insurance for acupuncture information. HUGE MISTAKE. What was I thinking. I got information from one in the downtown area. I left a msg and they already called me back…I have to call them after 2. Then best part….I have some money coming my way which will help pay for however far we want to take this and that is the biggest relief of all. I posted in the lounge…http://www.conception-tips.com/viewt...?p=40054#40054.looking for feedback. Thank you guys for giving me permission to have my breakdown but reminding me I need to get back on the saddle and focus. Lynn- DH is taking Fertility Blend and that already has the maximum daily value for Zinc....apparently if you take too much zinc that's bad for DH's swimmers too. So he's covered on the Zinc. Sarah- Thank you so much....will scoot over there right now ![]()

Betsy~Glad to see that you are feeling better too. That's great about DH getting his physical & stuff through that clinic & a referral to an RE too. Wow!! It's a good thing that you are proactive about stuff like this. It makes a huge difference. You go girl!!

Mere - since the dr. isn't being very helpful, maybe you could just directly call your insurance company, explain how you think this is a medical problem, and want to know exactly what could be covered in your plan. I know that I have been told by my doctor that things wouldn't be covered, and I called just to check anyway, and they were. Sometimes hearing it directly from them helps. Also, if they say things are covered, I would have them mail you something in writing stating what they said over the phone so you have documentation and can clarify things in th emorning.

Also - a bit of a scare for me yesterday - I found out that one of my students during summer school contracted fifth disease. For those of you that don't know, the ONLY time it is actually dangerous is if you are pregnant. Great. I pray that I am pregnant, but won't be able to find out for at least a week, and now I have to worry about this. I had to go to my primary clinic dr. and get blood taken. If I have it, there is nothing they can do, but it could cause damage to the baby. If I don't have it, then I am in the clear. I could use some prayers ladies. The dr. also said IF I have it and IF I am NOT pregnant, then I should not try to conceive next week.
My husband got so upset. He has a hard time understanding what it is like to be around sickness all the time working with little ones, and the kids that I work with are diagnosed with autism, and many of them will sneeze right in my face (we are working on that, trust me). I will find out in a few days... Melissa |
