Ladies I know this thread is old, but........You can always hire a Doula and make a birthing plan. In a birthing plan, your Doula will list all of your preferences and the docs have to follow it (or stay close to it). Such as:

Mother wishes to keep baby with her for first 3 hours.
Don't give the baby bath/shots/anything until 5 hours after birth.
Mother prefers to have the ability to walk around, bath, shower during labor.
Mother does not want pain medications.
Etc.

Anything the mother wishes can be put into the birth plan. If you have a nurse you don't like, the mother has every right to ask for a different nurse. Don't be shy, this is your labor and birth of your child that you will remember for the rest of your life. That way you can have the birth that you want, but in an extra safe setting of a hospital. Talk about these things and anyothers with your doc. at a prenatal visit to see how well they work with you if you have a birth plan.
