I was going to post a reply, but I erased it b/c I think I came across as callous when that would not be my intent. So instead I'll just say it that my IUI was not a bad experience, and in fact is the procedure itself is virtually pain free. It is quite amazing if you can actually watch what happens... I watched all my ultrasounds and the injection, and it was a neat experience.
The most difficult part is the 2ww afterward. You think it's bad waiting from month to month... it's ten times worse when you know you have been injected at the exact moment you should be, and you can do nothing but wait it out.
Really, there is nothing to be scared of. It feels so long ago that I don't remember it that well, to be honest. Oh, and I thought I would be uncomfortable with the idea of it (the whole "medical" aspect), but really, IUI was more cool than anything else.
You may want to PM Missy7t. She and I went through our IUI cycles together, and she got a bfp! She had a rough start with ttc, so it was really exciting to know that it worked for her.
