Kia- thanks for posting. This is EXACTLY why I have taken a break from teaching. My last school was JUST like this. They wanted every child to get an "A" and no one wanted to be "different". It was like a Stepford school and all the wealthy parents wanted to create little wealthy versions of themselves. Anyone bucking the system was made to feel like an outsider.

Whenever we would do HOTS, the parents would complain, because they couldn't understand how I could grade something so subjective. You mean there's more than ONE correct answer?????? OMG! It's called Life, people! Most of "us" live in the normal world, not one in which Daddy's last name will get you certain privileges!

Sorry to go off...it is just so frustrating! You know the saying: "you can't see the forest for the trees"? It applies in this case.
