Mere - since the dr. isn't being very helpful, maybe you could just directly call your insurance company, explain how you think this is a medical problem, and want to know exactly what could be covered in your plan. I know that I have been told by my doctor that things wouldn't be covered, and I called just to check anyway, and they were. Sometimes hearing it directly from them helps. Also, if they say things are covered, I would have them mail you something in writing stating what they said over the phone so you have documentation and can clarify things in th emorning.
