When you took a break, were you using protection during that time? Because infertility is defined as intercourse for at least a year without using prevention and not getting pregnant. So even if you weren't specifically "trying", if you weren't preventing that kind of counts, anyway.

I can't speak for you, obviously, but had I known then what I know now, I gladly would have started the testing early myself. DH and I have been "officially trying" for 15 months now. We waited until 12 months to say anything to the doctor. Only now are we starting all the testing procedures. I really wish that we had started it much earlier, to have an idea of why we are not conceiving. So, personally, I wouldn't feel bad starting early with testing procedures if I were you. Even if things come back normal for you both, then you just keep on trying. If they don't, well, you've got a little more information earlier than you would have otherwise, and that will help you with the ttc process.

BTW, once my DH was told he need to get the analysis done, it took him over three months to actually do it! If yours is ready and willing now, I say go for it. If he wimps out like my guy did, then you may be ttc a lot longer before any testing is even done!

Good luck with whatever you choose!
