Dating your DH is a must!!!

I’m on marriage # 3. His 2nd. We are both fanatical to keeping the romance alive and doing whatever it takes. Right now it’s easy because we just have my son who’s 9. Life I’m sure will change once again with a little one.

Some basic stuff we do: Always say good morning with kisses and hugs before another word is said. Same thing when one of us gets home. There is to be no asking of what’s in the mail or what’s for dinner. First hugs and kisses. Always say I love you before we depart. And last but not least saying good night is the last words we hear.

But to the more fun stuff. Friday night is family night. We rent a movie, watch wresting, play a board game, go bowling, or laser tag.

Saturday night is date night. Mostly we go salsa dancing. Other things we do are go to a Latin Jazz Club and have drinks and appetizers. We go to the beach and museums quite a bit. Every Thursday I get e-mails from the two different counties near where we live with local weekend events…a lot of these events are free. And we look through that and check out a different cultural event in the area. Even if it’s something neither one of us is “into” we may discover a new passion. We’ve also gone to those places where you can paint a ceramic piece. That was fun!

Last but not least. I cook probably 5 nights out of the week. He cooks once and then another night we go out to eat. In order to try lots of different places (we live close to a downtown area). We got the local magazine and wrote down the names of all the restaurants in the area…even those places where we may not know the type of food they have. And when we want to go out we pull the names out of a bowl and that’s where we go. No negotiating needed. Once we come back home we write down our “critiques” on the back of an index card.
