What a fun topic! I love all the stories!


Back in '99, I had just gotten my first computer and was excited about all the possibilities! I was playing around in a Chicago chatroom, talking about my school. Some guy starts criticizing it (he didn't go there). Some other guy (DH) in the room became all defensive about it. After arguing, DH stopped writing altogether. I pm'd him (something I was so proud to know how to do!) about getting upset, and that started us talking about school. Obviously, we attended the same university. During our chat, we realized that he worked with my best friend, and I worked with one of his art buddies.
We went back to our friends and asked about each other. My friend said, "Oh you have to meet him, you will love him!"
I'd go to Walmart (where they worked at the time) and try to catch a glimpse of him, but he was never doing his job, apparently, b/c I never found him.
After months of talking over the internet, and then on the phone, we realized we were really enjoying each other, but afraid to meet in person (we both thought it sounded kind of creepy to meet someone off the internet). Finally, it was New Years '00. We talked and he invited me to his New Years party. I got nervous (I didn't want to go by myself), so I lied and told him I was having a party. His response? "Oh, mine is just a few friends. How about we just go to your house?"
I spent the next few hours trying to throw together a non-existent party. Sure enough, that night he showed up. When he walked through the door, it was as if we had known each other our whole lives. We were inseparable from that moment on.
I knew instantly that he was THE ONE. Oddly enough, I was not physically attracted to him. In fact, I was interested in someone else at the time. But I knew in my heart that I would marry him someday.

Three years later, we were married. Our 3rd wedding anniversary is June 21st.
He may not be perfect, but he is definitely perfect for me.

Ironically, neither of us ever went into a chatroom after that one day. It was the first and only time for either of us.
