Mary - IUI is intrauterine insemination and is only done by an RE. You can have CM throughout your cycle but it changes as your hormones fluctuate. Right before you O alot of people will get what they call egg-white CM (EWCM) which is the most fertile kind. And yes its probably a good plan for you to start using the preseed around CD9 or 10 since you do have shorter cycles and the point is to have the sperm inside ready and waiting for the egg to pop out. I told DH I wanted to do clomid and he immediately thought we would end up with sextuplets... idiot!!!
