Tammy - I don't have an actual 'recipe', but here is how I make my chili.

1 lb ground beef or turkey
1/2 lb sausage

brown meat with chopped onions and peppers (I like red, yellow or orange peppers. they aren't as bitter as the green ones when they're cooked).

1 can black beans (usually the smaller can like 12 oz or something like that)
1 can kidney beans (red or dark red)
1 can white kidney beans (or what ever other type of bean you want to add)
1 small can of tomato paste
1 12-14 oz can diced tomatoes (I like the ones that have the oregano, basil and something else in them that way I don't have to add more herbs)

Strain and rinse the beans and put in crock pot with all other ingredients. Add a few shakes (maybe about a 1/2 - 1 teaspoon) of black, cayenne or white pepper (depending on how 'hot' you want it - the white pepper and cayenne pepper are more potent than regular black pepper)

Add a couple shakes of crushed, dried chili pepper flakes

Add some chili powder (maybe a couple teaspoons)

I don't measure anything. Maybe start with a little bit of the seasonings and when it's half cooked, taste it and see if you need more. I tend to make mine a little on the spicy side, but that's how dh likes it.

Mix everything really well, cover and cook for a few hours -the last batch I made I cooked for 2 hours on high and another 1 1/2 on low.
