I thought that I wanted nothing for pain until it took me 5 hours to get to 4cm. Then I had to have something or I was not going to make it because it ended up being 18 hour labor. Each case is different. There has been many women before us that has done it without the luxary of pain meds and a clean hospital setting. I know I will take the drugs with this pregnancy because labor wears you out enough. The pain just makes it that much more exhausting. However, if you can do it, go for it.
